Get Comfortable: An Introduction to The Comfort Blog

Hello! My name is EboniJoi and I warmly welcome you to The Comfort Blog. I am thrilled to create a community and initiate a discussion around the concept of comfort. I invite you to join me on this exciting journey and let’s discover together what truly brings each of us comfort.

Before we begin, I'd like to clarify a few things. Firstly, I am not an expert in the field of comfort or any related subjects. I'm simply a black woman in my thirties who has a mild obsession with the idea of comfort in adult life - and napping! This blog and its associated content are borne out of my own explorations, rather than any claim to expertise. Secondly, I need your participation for this blog to be successful. Approximately every month, I will provide interactive and individual activities for you to participate in and reflect on. Trying new things is important if we want to find out what makes us most comfortable. I hope you will join me in these activities and discover something new about yourself and your comfort zone.

Share your thoughts, feelings, and reactions in the comments and on instragram!

Stay Nooked!

xoxo,

EboniJoi

Comfort In Conversation - Episode One: Brianna Reed

Join me every week for Comfort in Conversation, a weekly interview series highlighting personal experiences. Every week, a guest is invited to answer a series of thoughtful questions and share their unique insights on how comfort has shaped their life.

Join me as I welcome Brianna Reed as my guest this week. I first met Brianna while we were both employed at the Stuart Weitzman School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania. Listen in to discover her unique, yet relatable, perspective on comfort.

*interview in two-part audio file. Excuse the silly banter, my nasal congestion and the occasional cut out of my voice! :)

The Maker’s Playlist: Reverence

I really love music, and one way I enjoy interacting with it is by creating playlists that capture different themes, emotions, and moments. To share my love for music, I will be releasing a new playlists on the Tidal streaming platform, and posting it on this blog. Each playlist will reflect a special moment, feeling, or topic related to comfort. This week's playlist, titled "Reverence," celebrates the idea that comfort is something sacred and deserving of our utmost respect and care. I hope all of these songs inspire feelings of gratitude and awe.

Cultivating Comfort: A Book & Journal Club!

July Book: The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz is a powerful book that offers a new perspective on life and relationships. The agreements outlined in the book are simple but profound: be impeccable with your word, don't take anything personally, don't make assumptions, and always do your best. By following these agreements, Ruiz argues that we can create a life of happiness, love, and fulfillment. The book is a must-read for anyone looking to improve their relationships and live a more meaningful life.

I've already read this book, and I'm looking forward to reading it again with a focus on how it can enhance our sense of comfort and belonging. While reading, let's take some time to ponder these questions.

1. Which of the four agreements do you find most challenging to follow in your own life and why?

2. How have the four agreements outlined in the book helped you to improve your relationships with comfort?

3. In what ways has reading The Four Agreements changed your perspective on comfort and personal growth?

4. Have you noticed any positive changes in your overall well-being since incorporating the four agreements into your daily life?

I’ll publish my response to these questions at the end of the month!
